THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE IN GYNAE/OBSTETRICAL WALK IN SERVICES IN LADY READING HOSPITAL PESHAWAR

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:- To assess patient’s experience regarding provision of outdoor health care services in Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.


METHODOLOGY: - This cross sectional study was conducted in Gynecology/ Obstetrics Unit,   Lady reading hospital Peshawar from 1st December 2019 till 29th February 2020. Total 500 patients selected by Non probable convenience sampling method. Results calculated as frequencies, percentages and Mean ± SD used for continuous variables.  Structured questionnaire was filled after taking verbal consent regarding patients experience in outpatient department.


RESULTS: - Patients from 12-73 years were included, 92.8% married, 7.2% unmarried, 77.4%attended the OPD less than 4 times. 77% mentioned about OPD staff cooperation, 73.8% satisfied for proper over crowd handling, 26.4% referred cases from other hospitals, only 5.8% failed to receive medical advice on day of visit.  86.6% satisfied from laboratory staff behavior, 24.8% not satisfied for receiving reports on same day. 86.4 %, 89%, and 90.2% satisfied with in time availability of consultants, examination skills, treatment and documentation. 80.2% properly guided by clinical assistant’s and 70.2% mentioned their good behavior.


CONCLUSION: - Patients were satisfied regarding provision of services in outpatient department and considered very crucial for improving the administrative and clinical health care services policies.
